Gothic master Jane Ford demonstrating at Fresh: Ascot

As if exploring more than 6000 artworks from 53 top galleries weren’t enough, we at Fresh: Ascot have organised a sensational array of demonstrations throughout the Fair so that you can watch the creative magic unfold before your very eyes!

The second in our set of working artists is Jane Ford, represented by WING Art Gallery. Before developing her hugely successful career as a painter, Ford was a corporate high-flier, serving as Head of Design for Minolta and Ricoh. Combining her all-consuming passion for British wildlife with a quintessentially dark and quirky sense of Northern humour, she creates extraordinarily beautiful images that are at once gothic, surreal and incredibly heartfelt.

With their glimpses of Victorian engines, optical and astronomical instruments and even obscure medieval inventions, her paintings are often considered to represent the very best traditions of the Steam Punk aesthetic and the dazzling inventiveness of her work never ceases to amaze us.

“The great diversity of British wildlife and the imagination of connecting birds and animals with unrelated objects opens up endless possibilities for paintings” says Ford. “The whole thing is brought together in the naming of the work…it’s all in the title.”

Having exhibited with The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, Jane has also shown with the Royal Society of British Artists and in a number of international displays, from Venice to the United States and the Far East.

Ford will be demonstrating from 11:30am – 5:30pm on Friday 20th September. Don’t miss this opportunity to see a true master at work; book your tickets for Fresh: now!
