Big Names, Bold Works: Modern British Art at Fresh

This year Fresh: continues to expand its range of work and we have an exciting collection of Modern British artworks available from several exhibiting galleries. Modern British artwork refers to the diverse and evolving artistic expressions created in Britain during the early 20th century. It encompasses various movements such as Post-Impressionism, Modernism, and Pop Art, reflecting the cultural and social changes of the time.

Fifties Art, stand 27, from Malvern, specialise in the work of John Piper, one of the most creative, imaginative and versatile artists of the twentieth century. Piper’s work can also be seen on stand 7 with Fine Art Consultancy, London.

Sir Terry Frost is a British abstract artist, who worked in Newlyn, Cornwall. Frost was renowned for his use of the Cornish light, colour and shape to start a new art movement in England. He became a leading exponent of abstract art and a recognised figure of the British art establishment. Visit stand 17 IAP Fine Art to view the works and find out more.

Don’t miss Eduardo Paolozzi, a Scottish artist, with his focus on industrial engineering and made in 1981 the year he was asked to be an honorary member of the Architectural Association. You will find a work by this artist on our curated stand Built Perspectives, a exhibition of architecture in art, curated by principal partner RRA Architects.

Paragon Modern Masters bring a wide selection of original prints from celebrated artists including Picasso, Miro, Chagall and many more. Original prints are a great way to start or build a collection adding investment pieces that may not cost as much as you might think. An unsigned original print by Picasso for example, starts for as little as £1000.

Whether the affordability of works like this will remain priced as they currently are is open to question: the demand for the artist’s work has sent prices surging over the past decade. As more pieces end up in collections and museums, the pool of available work gets smaller and smaller.

We will also have a selection of works by the renowned artist David Hockney. Hockney is a painter, printmaker, photographer and stage designer who rose to prominence in the 1960s Pop Art movement and is considered one of Britain’s most influential artists. You can find his works on stand 17, with IAP Fine Art and Stand 2, with Paragon Modern Masters.

So don’t miss your chance to see and buy from this fantastic new selection. We look forward to seeing you at Cheltenham Racecourse 24-26April. Doors open at 5.30PM on Thursday 23rd April for the Private View evening. We hope you can join us.
