Creativity for the kids with Dr Fun – Tracy Spiers PhD.
We’re delighted to welcome artist, illustrator and writer Tracey Spiers (or Dr Fun, as she is otherwise known!) to Fresh: Art Fair Cheltenham 2024, where she will be running workshops that are mainly aimed at children. With past experience in diverse areas of her craft, Tracy has worked in theatre, designing and creating Illustrations for the principle stage set for Roald Dahl’s The Witches at Cotswold Playhouse, Stroud. Likewise, she has been artist in residence at Stonehouse school, and at Stratton C of E School, Cirencester, working with whole school to create keys of creativity. Tracy also ran a day‘s art workshop based on The Future – for 35 children from different primary schools, then producing a 40-page book with of their work.
The workshops Tracy will run at Fresh: Art Fair Cheltenham are ongoing throughout the weekend, on Saturday 27th April (11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm) & Sunday 28th April (11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm) These workshops are offered on a first come first served basis, and unfortunately it isn’t possible to book in advance. Simply come along at the earliest opportunity to ensure your space at these fun additional events.
About Tracy:
Tracy runs various events within the Worcestershire and Gloucestershire area. An illustrator and writer, she describes herself as having: “A passion for telling stories in a playful, engaging and colourful way. Small with a big imagination, I enjoy seeing the humour in the ordinary and helping children learn about complicated subjects be it fractions or history, using illustration and playfulness as a way in. I have worked as a journalist for over three decades, but also have a first class BA Hons and MA (Dist) in Illustration. Married to Rog, with five daughters, I can often be spotted running along the Cotswold canal paths, drawing and drinking cappuccinos. I am currently studying for a PhD in Art & Design, looking at the value of playfulness.”
