Artist Demonstrations, Art Talks, and a LOT of Art…
Fresh: Art Fair Ascot is due to open next week – so what have we got lined up for you?! Aside from the main exhibition, where 40 leading art galleries and collectives from the UK and overseas will be hosted in the main space – showing thousands of artworks by contemporary and traditional artists in all mediums – we have additional points of interest to hold your attention at the fair. So if you’ve ever wondered how artists work, about the techniques and materials they employ to create a finished work that is fit for the art market, there are artists showing off their skills throughout the event. Come and ask questions or look on from the sidelines! In addition, there are informative talks for you to take in at this autumn’s fair.
Talks
Talks will run on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September this year with two expert speakers to choose from. Interior designer, Marina Hughes, of Marola Hughes Interiors, and Andrea Gregson, sculptor and senior lecturer in Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham will both be offering an opportunity to soak up some additional knowledge and information around their subjects. Don’t miss it – talks are included in your ticket admission, so there’s nothing additional to pay.
About Andrea Gregson (in her own words)
“(My) research is an ongoing inquiry into obsolescence, materiality, value and site using making as a ‘knowledge generating process’ and an approach to ‘thinking and invention’. Her recent research projects include After (Life of ) Objects, Seeing Through the Ground and Casting Space: Sculpture from the Anthropocene, developed from of a long-term interest in site, materiality, objects in series and taxonomies of display. The work explores sculptures ability to fold time and space into an object, the intertwining of its story, the manufacturing process and the investment of the artists’ labour, merging forms from mass production and structures in nature.”
About Marina Hughes (in her own words)
“It was clear that I had a passion for art and design from an early age and in my early years I dreamt of becoming a fashion designer. However, after refurbishing my own first home my attention quickly turned to interiors. Over the last 15 years I have to developed my technical knowledge in the commercial world of international hotels, spas and restaurants stretching from the Middle East to the United States. I enjoy applying these skills to private residential projects too so my clients can be surrounded by the luxury they desire in their own homes. There is nothing more satisfying than a client enjoying the comfort and luxury of the spaces we create for them.”

Artist Demonstrations
We’re delighted to have three very different artists showing off their skills at Fresh: Ascot this September. Louise Luton, wildlife painter from The Wey Gallery (stand B1) will be demonstrating her skills on Friday 22nd, Amanda Padfield, mixed media artist from The Circle Gallery (stand C6) has her skills on show on Saturday 23rd and Keziah Burt, sculptor from Park Gallery (stand C7) will be working in the studio on Sunday. Come along to ask them questions, talk about techniques, materials, and of course to admire and purchase their artworks!
